College Entrance Tests

 Preliminary SAT (PSAT)

Juniors who plan to go to college should take the PSAT in October.    Applications will be available in the Counseling Office, and the test will be given at CWHS.  This is the test that determines National Merit Finalists.

Juniors who have finished geometry would be smart to take the ACT and/or the SAT in the spring or summer before senior year.

ACT---usual exam taken for entry to any University of Tennessee or Board of Regents schools and many other colleges and universities.  Applications for the ACT are available in the Counseling Office.  (Dickson County Board of Education pays for CWHS students to take the  ACT one time only.  See Mrs. Hayes in 216.)

SAT—required by many selective colleges and by most private colleges and accepted by University of Tennessee and Board of Regents colleges instead of ACT.
