Dear Parents and Students;

Welcome to the Creek Wood High School Choral Department! I am very excited about working with you this year. Choir provides a wonderful opportunity for your student’s musical growth. This year, the Choral Department consists of two performance groups that meet during school hours, Women’s Ensemble and Concert Choir. Our success depends greatly on the parents as well as the singers. This is definitely a collaborative effort between director, teachers, singers and their respective households. Music rehearsal and events are scheduled for the entire season. Singers should agree to participate for the entire season. On the very first day of school, I will send a schedule of rehearsal and performance dates but for your convenience but you may also view our Choral Department website and get this updated information. Please make sure you go over the calendar carefully and mark down all performances. Each member is expected to remain committed to the program to the best of their ability. The Festival events will be in the Spring but we will be preparing for them all year long. The pieces will be very challenging!
However, your commitment and hard work has many benefits! Performing with a musical ensemble gives students not only the opportunity to grow musically, but also to learn more about cooperation, teamwork, commitment, tolerance and acceptance. You will also benefit by better self-esteem, confidence and pride in accomplishment.
Elsewhere on the web site, you’ll find a Choral Department Newsletter, and a special flyer inviting you to our VERY IMPORTANT Choral Parent and Student Meeting on August 12th.  Dinner will be served. See the flyer concerning that information. The Choral Handbook will be received that evening and you will find very important information regarding attendance, communication, attire, behavior, a contact and contract sheet, rehearsals and performance dates as well as my contact information and the Choral Department website information.
