Our Mission:  to encourage communication, cooperation, and cultural enhancement with a variety of experiences.

COMMUNICATION:  speak more Spanish, and make friends with people who speak Spanish.

COOPERATION:  participate in community projects to benefit local Hispanic people, and other worthy causes throughout the year.

CULTURE:  This is done mainly through opportunities to experience Hispanic cultures by visiting locations such as restaurants, but also participating in seasonal celebrations (such as Cinco de Mayo soccer tournament/dinner and potentially music and other media.  (Yeah, this is the food part!)

Club membership is open to any student who is interested in Spanish, not only people currently in Spanish classes.

The fee for this club is $3.00 and can be paid in rooms 527-502. Membership is based on attendance, and members are asked to pay for their portion of the activities.

Activities include:  eating out at Mexican restaurants, community projects to assist local ELL students (such as gifts or a bake sale/fair/car wash for a young student injured in an accident.

At our regular meetings we invite special speakers to enhance our knowledge about Spanish culture.  We often celebrate holidays.  In February, we celebrate the discovery and development of  chocolate.  We plan our future activities, and prepare ourselves for the annual Spanish Fair.

We regret to announce that the annual Spanish Honor Society fair at Austin Peay State University has been cancelled for the spring of 2006.  Spanish club members are asked to consider the option of hosting a fair here at Creek Wood in the spring of 2007.  A decision will be made on this at the first meeting of the Spanish Club in fall 2006.
