STATE OF TENNESSEE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Core Curriculum

4—units of English I, II, III, IV
3—units of Mathematics (must include Algebra I or Technical Algebra and Geometry)
3—units of Science (must include biology and a physical science)
3—units of Social Studies (U.S. Government, Economics, U.S. History plus 1 unit of World History or World Geography)
1—unit of Wellness
Total of above: 14 Core Curriculum Units or Credit

PROMOTION AND RETENTION

To be promoted at the end of the current school year, a student must have earned the following number of credits:

4 credits to be classified as a sophomore;
12 credits to be classified as a junior;
20 credits to be classified as a senior.
