Technology Department

Purpose and Duties

The Technology Department for Dickson County Schools is responsible for servicing over 2,500 computers as well as over 20 servers, numerous types of software, printers, projectors and other multimedia components. The Technology Department also manages the district's network and phone system.

The purpose of the Technology Department is to help teachers and students use technology as an educational toolIn an effort to help us better assist everyone we ask that all requests for technology assistance be submitted through our Help Desk Ticket System.  This system allows us to monitor the status of each request.

Equipment

Technology can be a powerful teaching tool and here at Dickson County it is very important to stay current with the latest changes in the technology field. Currently, refurbished computers are being purchased to replace old and outdated computer systems. The administration for the school system has found that these are the most economical and cost effective way to update computers. HP has become the primary computer in the Dickson County school system although other brands can still be found throughout the schools.

If you'd like to donate computers we ask that they have at least Windows XP operating system and a minimum of 2G of RAM. Some older computers can still be found throughout the county but these will eventually be phased out through the replacement program.
