5 tips to survive middle school <3 |
|
Many students question themselves this everyday. ”How am I going to survive this?” |
|
Middle School. A place full of cliques, fights, crushes , drama , and of course the stereotypes. How do we overcome all of this? The basic stereotypes. · Nerd · Ghetto · Goth · Prep · Jock So what is a stereotype? A stereotype is basically a pre–judgment . It is most of the time based on look but attitude and how someone carries themselves has to do with it too. For example a Goth usually wears all black and most of the time they can act really sad and emotional and even angry and mean to people ( mostly the preps), while the preps wear bright brand names and act very happy and most of them are snobby to goths. So how can I break my stereotype? Breaking the stereotype gives you a sense of individuality. Most of my friends break the stereotype. For example say I have a friend who wears black a lot. The first thought that pops to your mind is a Goth, but I never told you how that friend carried themselves. This friend is a happy, up-beat person! So that is breaking the stereotypes. So that is the first tip of surviving middle school. Middle School Hallways Middle School hallways… the trail to class. I know this is a weird topic on how to survive middle school but ANYTHING Can happen in a hallway. Fights can start, people trip, there are books everywhere, slamming doors, and it’s just all chaos. My #1 one tip for surviving the middle school hallways is to walk in the MIDDLE of the hall! Do not walk on the sides! Trust me, I learned the hard way. There are three basic reasons NOT to walk on the sides. 1. Lockers are there.. Duh! 2. Teacher’s opening doors. 3. Turning, you can run into other students. Things to prepare for in a middle school hallway. Middle school hallways are filled with a lot of teens and It gets crowded and people are rude sometimes and will stand and get in a group and talk when you only have a limited time to get to class. Just walk past the group of people. Another thing you have to worry about in Middle School Hallways are the people who try to walk cool. Most of the time they are slow. Bullying Bullying is a huge problem at DMS. We tend to have several fights a year. I can name 4 or 5 that I know of. Sometimes teens bully to make themselves feel better and sometimes they bully because they are just mean. If I am a victim of bullying, what should I do? If you are a victim of bullying you should try your best to ignore it, unless it becomes a daily thing or if it is physical. Once it becomes physical or daily you need to tell a teacher. Reasons not to bully! Bullying earns you a terrible reputation. Even if you have a rough life at home, it still isn’t right to bully. Wouldn’t it be nice to have friends and not be an adult with regret? Everyone matures, but it is still nice to be nice to everyone. Students’ Opinions & Compliments In middle school, we all wear outfits or certain things to impress certain people. Some people have nice things to say and others don't. I get tons of compliments on humorous shirts I own and I also get remarks saying “That outfit doesn’t go together AT ALL!” What to do & what not to do. If you want to give a compliment, do it! Just don’t over– compliment, because that can get you a reputation of a kiss-up or a liar. Don’t make rude remarks on someone’s outfit, because 1. That’s just rude, and 2. They will dress the way they want to because it is their life. 3. That can earn you a bad reputation of a bully.
Academics & School work. Always try your best. Schoolwork can have a lot to do with your school reputation. If you don’t do your work most people might think of you as a slacker or someone who is lazy , or maybe even someone undependable. Also it is a good idea to stay on task and ALWAYS do your work, because if you don’t , you will get stressed and not be able to hang out with your friends.
Bye ! Now that you have read these tips, you will do good in middle school and things might be a little easier for you now that you have an idea what middle school is like!
