The DMS libraries have two separate data bases. On each computer in the school, students and teachers have access to the card catalogs of both schools.
&Library books that count for SACS Accreditation:
6th Grade-approximately 4000 books
7th & 8th grade-approximately 9000 books
SACS REQUIRES TWELVE BOOKS PER STUDENT AND WITH AN ENROLLMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 1200, WE NOW HAVE 10 BOOKS PER STUDENT.
The libraries have many reference books and teacher books. In addition to books the libraries house videos, books on tape, models, learning kits, games, CD's, posters, and audiovisual equipment. Lists are provided each teacher.
Channel One is located in both libraries. The news is broadcast twice daily and channel One Network programs can be taped and videos can be played to the entire school. Calendars of educational programs are placed in teachers' mailboxes.
Teachers may schedule time to bring their classes to do research and/or use the computer lab and laptops or check out books.
