Introducing… The MSCCA Almanac! This document contains the history of the Mid-State CC Association. For three easy payments of $19.95—No really it’s FREE! This has been compiled over the years documenting the runners of the Mid-State Association. There is the possibility that mistakes have been made. If so, send the webmaster ehickerson@dcbe.org a note and we will make the change.

Coaches of the association met on Saturday 11/15 to discuss several issues. The following items were decided upon for the upcoming year(s).

1.   The MSCCA Pre-Season meet will now be called “The Voyles Classic”.

2.    MVP award for the Voyles Classic will be called the “Markie MVP Award”. This will be given to the boy and girl with the top time of the day.

3.    Instituted a “4 Year” award to be given at the MSCCA Banquet. This special award will be given to any senior who has been on the All-Midstate team for 4 years.

4.    Formed a committee to determine the “Coach of the Year” In the past the coach of the year has been determined by the MSCCA championship race and the winning team. All coaches in attendance agreed that there should be more criteria than just this race. The committee will look at such things as: (but will not be limited to)

1. Improvement of their program

2. Season success

3. Contribution to the sport

4. Sportsmanship

Next year’s committee will consist of Charlie Harper-BA, Charlie Pruitt(MSCCA Co-Founder), Eric Hickerson-Dickson, and Glen Gattis-Macon County. This award will be given at the MSCCA banquet.

5.    Gave Tuesday meet directors the option of having middle school races. Some meets

have several middle school teams attend while others have very few. Each Tuesday meet will have a note to show whether it will have middle school races.

6.    Voyles Classic race divisions will have the same names as last year. In 2010, the race divisions will change to the following names.  Boys-Sexton(Station Camp) and Mahaney     (Macon Co.)

                                                                Girls-Kroeger(Independence) and Benson(Gallatin)

7.    The association will pursue a timing company for the championship race and possibly the Voyles Classic as well.

    8. Approved the calendar for the 2009 Season.
