MIDSTATE XC ASSOCIATION ALL-MIDSTATE (AMS) TEAMS

The Mid-State Association each year names an All-Mid-State team for both boys and girls in both A-AA and AAA classifications. Fifteen athletes are named to each team on the basis of their composite performances throughout the season in selected meets.

The selection of the All-Mid-State team is made on the basis of three times which are combined into a single composite time for each runner. The three times used are taken from the following meets:

1) MID-STATE PRE-SEASON MEET

                        2) MID-STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS + 3)TSSAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS*

*Any runner not competing in the TSSAA State Championships can substitute a time from either the Tennessee Classic or A.F. Bridges Invitational. In order to be eligible for the All-Mid-State Teams runners must compete in the MSCCA Pre-Season and Championship meets.

The fifteen runners with the lowest composite times in each division are named to the All-Mid-State team. In addition, the runner with the lowest composite time is named Mid-State Most Valuable Runner.

Coaches of the Year      The Middle Tennessee Cross Country Association will name a "Coach of the Year" in both boys and girls divisions. These coaches will be selected by a committee and honored at the MSCCA banquet at the end of the year.

All Mid-State Banquet The members of the All Mid-State teams and the honored coaches are recognized each year at a banquet.

MIDSTATE CROSS COUNTRY ASSOCIATION WEBSITE

Google MSCCA -Save in your favorites.

The website has become a powerful tool in quickly communicating information that otherwise would take forever to mail and forever to write. The purpose of the site is to serve the coaches and athletes of the association, so if there is any content that you would like to see added please talk to me or e-mail me and I will get to work on it. Some aspects of the site to draw your attention to and to ask your assistance with:

-E-MAIL DIRECTORY: I have launched an online e-mail directory of all the coaches in the association that have submitted their e-mail addresses to me so that we can have a central hub and so that we can all communicate with each other quickly. If you would like to be added to the directory, e-mail me your request.

-AMS TEAM STANDINGS: I will post the standings for all four AMS teams after the preseason meet and unofficially after the championship meet. This is a very laborious task that is subject to error to even a very cautious compiler. It is important that you browse these if you believe you have an athlete to be in contention for these teams to make sure that I have not omitted them or miscalculated their composite times. Any of the AMS qualifying meets that you attend that require you to handwrite the names of your athletes on bibs or on an envelope, please print them neatly to help me prevent errors of my own.

-DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Coach Evans and I receive many requests each year to provide directions to parents to travel to the association meets all across middle Tennessee. I have started a section on the site to post directions to each meet location. Meet directors, you might find it to be a great time saver to e-mail me explicit directions to your meet locale (from multiple approaches) and I will be glad to post them in the directions section.

-MEET RESULTS: Coach Evans and I also receive many requests each year to post the results for all-comers meets, but rarely do we get all-comers results submitted to us in any format. All-comers (and invitational) directors, any electronic format that you would prefer (Word, Excel, HTML, etc.) can be e-mailed to me and will be posted on the site. I can also post your meet info / entry forms.

-LINKS: If anyone has a team website, or your school gives you a link on their homepage for cross country, I would be glad to post a link to your site from the MSCCA website. Feel free to send any relevant links regarding cross country or major meets (Great American, Foot Locker, etc.). Finally, if you have photos online from association meets, I'd love to have the URL to link too.

Thanks and good luck this season!
