Welcome to DMS Dr. Woody Burton
I grew up in a military family, but Tennessee has been home for most of my life. After an enlistment in the U.S. Army, I returned to Clarksville, where I married my wife Gayle, and raised two sons, Tony and Larry.
I completed a program of study at Bethel University earning bachelor’s degree in business and organizational management in 1999. I worked as a case manager with multiple agencies assisting “at-risk” youth and their families. After earning a master’s degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2006, I began teaching at Norman Smith Elementary School. While working in the classroom, I earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009. In 2015, I completed my doctorate in educational leadership at Trevecca Nazarene University. Since 2010, I have served as an Assistant Principal at Clarksville High School.
I am extremely excited about having the opportunity to meet and serve the community of Dickson. There are high expectations for students at Dickson Middle, and I am eager to help and support them achieve their goals.
