Attendance
Module
In
Star Student, a student is considered present unless he/she is
marked absent or tardy. The system automatically displays a period
(.) on each school day in the
student's calendar in his/her
Attendance Records to indicate that
the student is present. Marking a student absent or tardy on a given
day consists of posting an
Attendance Code to the student's
detail calendar. Only codes that appear on the calendar
detail will count on attendance reports.

Educational Information
Systems (EIS)
The
Tennessee Department of Education has established a state-level
longitudinal student enrollment data system, the Education
Information System (EIS). Tennessee’s EIS contains student
demographic and attendance data for all students in the State. EIS
provides data analysis and archival data over multiple years and a
unique student ID for all Tennessee students. The state also
acquired a Statewide Student Management System (SSMS), to be fully
integrated with EIS.
