William James Middle School
William James Middle School is located in the eastern section of Dickson County in the community of White Bluff directly on Highway 70. The population is composed of families from diverse backgrounds, which include blue-collar workers, professionals, agricultural people, and members of the timber industry.
William James Middle School is a 6th, 7th, & 8th grade middle school serving approximately 275 students. The facilities include an approximate 43,000 square feet building situated on nine acres of land. The school was first built in 1922 and opened its doors in 1923 as a high school housing grades one through ten. Grades eleven and twelve were added in 1927. The father of Colonel William James donated the original six acres of land on which the school was built and Colonel James is interred in the lobby of the school. With the continued growth of Dickson County, William James School changed from grades one through twelve to grades one through nine, then to grades seven through nine and finally to its present population of grades six through eight.
The majority of the students, teachers, parents and community feel the school offers a safe and orderly environment for learning. William James faculty and staff strive to educate and empower students to become productive citizens through a commitment to excellence.
William James is available for community activities. The facilities are available for athletic programs, family reunions, and civic elections and functions, and community fundraisers.
