About

William James Middle School is located in the eastern section of Dickson County in the community of White Bluff, Tennessee directly on Highway 70. WJMS has approximately 300 students in grades six, seven, and eight. The facilities include an approximate 43,000 square foot building situated on nine acres of land.  The school was first built in 1922 and opened its doors in 1923 as a high school housing grades one through ten.  Grades eleven and twelve were added in 1927.  The father of Colonel William James donated the original six acres of land on which the school was built and Colonel James is interred in the lobby of the school.  With the continued growth of Dickson County, William James School changed from grades one through twelve to grades one through nine, then to grades seven through nine, and finally to its present population of grades six through eight.

William James faculty and staff strive to educate and empower students to become productive citizens through a commitment to excellence.

William James is available for community activities.  The facilities are available for athletic programs, family reunions, and civic elections, functions, and community fundraisers.
